The Sanderson’s

What made you decide on a destination wedding versus a local wedding?
Bride & Groom: “We wanted a wedding on the smaller side, one where the people who wanted to be there would be there, and that included all of the most special people in our lives. We also both really love to travel and this combined both that and the small, intimate setting.”

What made you choose to work with a travel agent for your destination wedding?
B&G: “We knew that this would be the easiest and most dependable way to ensure our guests had a good travel experience for our big day. Not having to worry about our guests having travel issues or questions we couldn't answer for them was a huge relief in the wedding planning process. It felt like one thing we just didn't have to handle!”

What part of the planning process did you find most helpful or stress-relieving with my support?
B&G: “The continuous support on questions/concerns we had from guests as well as support in working with the resort. With anything, we had a few problems come up that we just had no clue how to solve, you were able to step in and provide a seamless, stress free solution multiple times throughout the process.”

Did having someone manage guest travel and logistics make a difference? If so, in what ways?
B&G: “Yes - a huge difference! When our guests had travel issues, we didn't even know! It was just handled. It was one thing during the wedding planning process we knew we did not have to worry about.”

What was the wedding-planning process like? How was your team at the resort?
B&G: “The wedding planning process was straightforward and easy. It was so easy at times that we would wonder... "is there anything else we need to be doing?" A destination wedding is definitely more for couples who want someone else to handle most of the small details. We liked that we could communicate what we want, and the wedding planning team just made it happen.”

What were the highlights of your destination wedding?
B&G: “Oh my gosh, so many. Probably the actual wedding reception. It was a point where we knew everything had come together perfectly and it was just time to have fun. The DJ and staff at our wedding were AMAZING. Everyone was on the dance floor the whole night and no one's glass even got close to empty. (Yes, they brought drinks to us on the dance floor!!!)”

What advice would you give to other couples thinking about planning a destination wedding?
B&G: “Be patient. Unlike other weddings, a majority of the planning for destination weddings happens within the last 2 weeks. You won't likely have questions like "what does my head table look like?" or "how far of a walk is it from the ceremony to the cocktail hour?" until right before the wedding. Even though it feels last minute compared to standard weddings, it's a very normal timeline for destination weddings. The wedding planning team is used to making things happen and making your vision come to life in those last few weeks. We could have added additional items/plans up until the day before if we wanted.”
